“We know its challenging for people to see every film they’d like to during each June’s Festival. So giving them a chance to see some of June’s films that are generating huge awards season buzz in L.A., NY and beyond seemed like a unique way to kick off this year’s series,” said Barry Rivers, founder and director of the Maui Film Festival and curator of FirstLight.
Rivers is also curating the FirstLight: Academy Screenings, which will continue with 20 Hawaii Premieres and 10 Special Screenings, starting in mid-December and continuing through January, 5, 2014 with an abundance of Oscar-worthy films showing in The Castle Theater.
